WEEK 4 2021 RUNDOWN – ECLIPSE SELECT ALUMNI
OAK BROOK, Ill. – The Eclipse Select Soccer Club continued to carry momentum into the remaining matches of their respective non-conference schedule in Week Four. The best moment of the past week showcased Jack Finnegan (SO/Hometown, Ill) and the Wisconsin Badgers upsetting the No. 18/19 Marquette Golden Eagles in double overtime. Finnegan nodded in the game-winner in the 108th minute to defeat their in-state rivals 1-0 on the road. The sophomore doled out the game-winning assist earlier in the week as Wisconsin defeated Butler 1-0.
AWARD WINNER
Butler Bulldog Amanda Kowalski (RS-SR/Arlington Heights, Ill.) earned Big East Defensive Player of the Week after limiting Write State and Ball State to just two shots on goal combined over two games. Kowalski added an assist in the match against the Cardinals for the game-winner.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Kerry Abello (SR/Batavia, Ill.) led Penn. State to a 1-0 win over N.C. State with a game-winning assist. Ainsley Ahmadian (FR/Naperville, Ill.) tallied two assists while teammate Hannah Bebar (FR/Naperville, Ill.) assisted twice in a 3-3 draw with Boston College. San Diego’s Jamie Goralski (RS-JR/Naperville, Ill.) scored her first goal of the year and the game-winner in a 2-1 result over Long Beach State. Skylar Kingsley (SR/Naperville, Ill.) of Mizzou netted goals in consecutive games including the game-winner against Northern Colorado. Purdue’s Ally Mussallem (SR/Palo Heights, Ill.) recorded her second goal of the season with a game-winner against Colorado. Katie Knutte (JR/Lemont, Ill.) of Olivet Nazarene recorded two goals and three assists versus IU-Northwest and recorded a goal against Cornerstone last week.
SUSTAINING SUCCESS
The Dominican Stars defender Zachary Gamster (SO/St. Charles, Ill.) scored his second goal of the season in a 3-1 victory over Lake Forest. Gamster now has five points in four games so far this year. Ella Richards (FR/Chicago, Ill.) of Boston College piled onto her point total with another two goals against Harvard and two assists versus Holy Cross for a point total of 20 on the season. Michigan State Spartan Zivana Labovic (SO/Schererville, Ind.) tallied her third goal of the season in a 3-1 win over Dayton. Niki Hernandez (GR/Naperville, Ill.) registered her fifth goal of the season for Michigan in a 1-1 draw with Louisville. Lewis Flyers’ Dimitri Huitron (FR/Oswego, Ill.) scored his second goal of the season, which proved to be the game-winner, over Northern Michigan. Marian’s Erin Oleksak (JR/Palatine, Ill.) assisted once in a top ten match-up win over No. 7 Central Methodist. Her fourth assist of the year. Nina Nicosia (FR/Elmwood Park, Ill.) of Louisville scored her third goal of the year in a match-up with Michigan. Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Gaby Schwartz (SR/Chicago, Ill.) extended her assist streak to five games with an assist versus Wisconsin. Natalie Vaughn-Low (SR/Dekalb, Ill.) scored a brace in a match with NIU for her third and fourth goals of the campaign for Illinois State. Notre Dame’s Korbin Albert (FR/Grayslake, Ill.) scored twice against Detroit Mercy to bring her season point total to nine.
FIRSTS OF MANY
Sydney Boudreau (FR/Mundelein, Ill.) registered the first goal of her career versus Colorado followed up with the first assist of her career against Kansas State for the Purdue Boilermakers. Boston’s Morgan Fagan (FR/Glencoe, Ill.) and Charlotte’s Kiara Pralle (FR/Bourbonnais, Ill.) scored their first goals in their careers last week. Florida’s Francesca Faraci (RS-SO/Park Ridge, Ill.) made her first career appearance in goal against No. 2 North Carolina. Olivet Nazarene’s Teagon Albert (SR/Grayslake, Ill.), Notre Dame’s Kiki Van Zanten (SO/Buffalo Grove, Ill.), and Grand Valley State’s Alicia White (FR/Geneva, Ill.) reached the scoresheet for the first time this season.
Over 100 Eclipse Select Soccer Club alumni, both male and female, are rostered across every level of college soccer at Division I, II, III, and NAIA. There are 46 alumni designated as freshmen entering their first year of college. The remaining includes 23 sophomores, 17 juniors, 17 seniors, and six graduate students with an additional year of eligibility due to the altered 2020-21 season.
