BEBAR AND VAN ZANTEN PREPARE FOR U-17 WNT CONCACAF QUALIFYING

Naperville and Buffalo Grove natives begin final preparations for the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship

CHICAGO (March 15, 2018) – Eclipse Select teammates Hannah Bebar (Naperville, Ill.) and Kalyssa Van Zanten (Buffalo Grove) will join The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team for a training camp in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. from March 16-26. It will be the pair’s last chance to impress the coaching staff before U.S. U-17 head coach Mark Carr chooses his 20-player roster for the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship being held in Nicaragua from April 19-29.

Bebar and Van Zanten both made appearances for a training camp down in Bradenton, Fla. back in January of this year. The training camp included two friendlies against Venezuela in which American swept both games. Van Zanten scored in the 33rd minute of the first matchup in which Team U.S.A. rolled to an 8-0 win. Bebar contributed an assist in the 74th minute of the second game leading to a 4-0 final score.

Bebar and Van Zanten are among the 24 women rostered for the 10-day event. The camp will include three closed-door games against the Japan U-17 WNT. Japan is one of eight countries to have qualified for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Later this Spring, the Americans are seeded into Group B and are scheduled to face Costa Rica, Bermuda and Canada in the tournament that will qualify three teams to the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.

Both players are the only representatives from the state of Illinois and teammates on the Eclipse Select Developmental Academy G00/99 team.
