NCAA Tournament features nine former Eclipse players who saw the pitch during respective First Round victories

CHICAGO (Nov. 14, 2017) – A strong contingent of former Eclipse Select Soccer Club players helped their respective Division I collegiate programs advance in the NCAA Tournament this past weekend. In fact, nine former Eclipse players saw the pitch for their respective clubs that advanced to the Second Round.
Here is a rundown of the First Round successes and the look ahead to next weekend’s Second Round:
McGowan, Irish dominate IUPUI: Notre Dame senior defender Ginny McGowan (Lake Forest, Ill.) had a well-rounded start to the NCAA Tournament, tallying a goal and helping the back line post a clean sheet for a 5-0 victory against IUPUI on Saturday. Her 47th-minute tally – a near-post header from the left side of the six-yard area – pushed the Irish lead to 3-0 and it was smooth sailing the rest of the way.
The Irish will now travel to face Texas A&M on Friday in College Station, Texas (7:30 p.m. CT).
Le Beau’s 21st shutout paces Auburn: Junior goalkeeper Sarah Le Beau (Crystal Lake, Ill.) came up with five saves to lead Auburn to a 1-0 victory against Hofstra last Friday in Auburn, Ala. Le Beau now has 21 career shutouts, which puts her one clean sheet away from tying the Tigers program record.
Auburn has a difficult task this Friday when it faces Stanford this (9 p.m. CT) in the Second Round.
Davison’s PK serves as shootout winner for Wildcats: Northwestern came through in the clutch this past Sunday with a 3-2 shootout victory against Butler on Sunday at Lakeside Field in Evanston, Ill.
In the thick of it were a pair junior defenders, including Hannah Davison (Geneva, Ill.) whose penalty kick conversion served as the game-winner. Davison, Kayla Sharples (Naperville, Ill.) and the Wildcats’ defense kept Butler off the score sheet for the entire 120 minutes of regulation and overtime to move the match into a shootout.
Northwestern now prepares for UCLA on Friday in the Second Round (10 p.m. CT).

Duke juniors Kayla McCoy (Lincolnwood, Ill.) and Chelsea Burns (Jacksonville, Fla.) each started during the Blue Devils’ 1-0 win against UNC-Greensboro on Saturday at Koskinen Stadium in Durham, N.C. Duke will face Oklahoma State on Friday in the Second Round (6:30 p.m. CT)
