ECLIPSE SELECT ALUMNI: LE BEAU DELIVERS SPECIAL PERFORMANCE FOR AUBURN
Crystal Lake native’s seven-save shutout, victory highlight Kicks for MS Night
CHICAGO (Oct. 19, 2017) – Some moments have greater meaning than just the game, and that certainly was the case for Auburn goalkeeper and Eclipse Select Soccer Club alumna Sarah Le Beau (Crystal Lake, Ill.) during the Tigers’ SEC match against No. 10 Florida this past Sunday.
With the club’s “Kicks for MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Night” taking place — Le Beau’s father has MS — the junior delivered a seven-save performance and clean sheet en route to a 1-0 victory at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
“You could tell she was playing for her dad today,” Auburn head coach Karen Hoppa said following the match.
Le Beau posted her sixth shutout of the season and fourth in SEC play. She has already matched her six shutout total from her 2016 sophomore campaign, and Le Beau is one clean sheet away from matching her seven-shutout freshman season in 2015.NU’s Davison plays integral setup role: Northwestern junior defender Hannah Davison (Geneva, Ill.) provided a heavy attacking presence during last Thursday’s 2-0 victory against Minnesota in Evanston, Ill. Davison notched her first two career assists to lead the way, setting up Brenna Lovera in the 21st minute and Michele Chernesky in the 44th minute — both during set piece sequences.
The Wildcats followed with another 2-0 win on Sunday and hope to sweep their three-game homestand when they welcome Nebraska this Saturday.Douglas stays on hot streak for Flames: Illinois-Chicago sophomore Tamae Douglas (Chicago, Ill.) recorded her third consecutive game with a goal during the Flames’ 2-1 victory against Youngstown State last Saturday. The previous week, Douglas netted goals against Illinois State and Detroit Mercy to secure Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week. Through this past weekend, Douglas has tallied a team-high four goals this season.
Short garners NWSL Best XI honors: On Oct. 11, the National Women’s Soccer League announced its NWSL Best XI, and Eclipse Select product, Florida State alumna and Chicago Red Stars defender Casey Short (Naperville, Ill.) earned recognition among this group. Short also was a league finalist for the Defender of the Year voting. Short’s campaign included netting a goal during the regular season for a 3-2 win against the Houston Dash that helped clinch a spot in the NWSL Playoffs.
