Michele Dalton is a Mt. Prospect, Illinois native and Eclipse Select Alumni. She attended John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois where she was a three year varsity starter. Michele ended her youth career playing club soccer full time with Eclipse Select. After graduating high school in 2007, Michele went on to play collegiately at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
At Wisconsin, Michele became a three-year starter and lead the Badgers to their first NCAA tournament appearance in four years, advancing as far as the Sweet Sixteen. She finished her collegiate career in 2011 as Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year and was voted team MVP twice. She graduated with a degree in communications and with several awards for her philanthropic work. While in Madison, Michele also created and managed a first of its kind campus food drive known as The Red and White Hunger Fight. The food drive continues its success today helping to feed those in need in the Madison community.
Her amateur career took Dalton across the United States where she competed in summer leagues during college. 2009 and 2010 was spent playing for San Diego United, a member of the WPSL. There she was voted 2009 Goalkeeper of the Year. During the summer of 2011, Michele played for the Madison 56ers of the WPSL, while 2012 was spent playing for the Philadelphia Fever in the WPSL Elite League.
Professionally, Michele has competed internationally in the top Icelandic league as well as Sweden’s first division. Most recently, Michele signed a contract with the Chicago Red Stars of the NWSL. While helping lead the team to a franchise best, second place finish in 2015, she lead the league with the lowest goals against average (0.917) and second in number of shutouts (5).
Michele’s previous coaching experience includes camp instruction at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Paul Riley’s Soccer School, and a Selfoss, Iceland local day camp. While in Madison, Dalton was also an assistant/goalkeeping coach for a local high school.
Michele holds an NCSAA Goalkeeping I and II Diploma as well as a USSF “E” Coaching License. She currently resides in Mt. Prospect, Illinois where she remains actively involved in the community.
