Director of Player Development/Programming
Brian Kibler grew up in Homer Township, Illinois and attended Lockport High School. He played soccer from an early age until he graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Kibler was married while in college. A few years after graduating he decided to be a stay-at-home dad for this daughter and his family moved to Naperville. His love of soccer continued and eventually he was recognized as someone that could possibly coach youth soccer by some of his adult team mates.
He began training teams for Lightning Soccer Club, a community based traveling soccer club based in Naperville, in 1995. Within 1 year he was named the Director of the club, a position he held for 10 years. During this time he developed many players for state and regional level ODP, division 1 college, and he also won 2 state championships.
Kibler has also coached with the Illinois Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) and their Olympic Development Program (ODP) since 1997. He has been an instructor for the IYSA’s Coach Education Program (CEP) since 2000. Instilling a passion for the game is important to Kibler who was honored to be a CEP instructor for a few of his former players as they recently began their coaching careers. His love of the game has brought him to study the game in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Brazil (2001 & 2003), Honduras (2006, 2007 & 2008), Ecuador, Haiti and England (2005 & 2006). He helped start the first TOPS program in Naperville for soccer players with special needs and continues to spread soccer outside of the USA through teaching, playing and supplying equipment/uniforms to lesser privileged countries/areas.
Brian currently holds his USSF "A" pro license which he originally received in 2003 and continued to keep active through CEU’s in 2007 & 2010. A true student of the game, he has many licenses and certificates: NSCAA Advanced National Diploma (2000), KNVB (Dutch Federation) Certified (2000), he also participated in the only state-side UEFA (European License) “B” preparatory course (2001-2002), earned his Positive Coaching Alliance Certificate (2006), as well as the USSF National “Youth” license (2005), was certified in Functional Sports Training (2001), and passed the inaugural USSF “Fitness 1” License (2006).
Kibler still resides in Naperville, Illinois along with his wife, Michelle, and is blessed with three amazing daughters.
