CHICAGO (Oct. 9, 2017) - Former Eclipse Select Soccer Club players raced during the 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, and over the years it has been common to spot former club and collegiate standouts running this famed event. This year was no different.
Among the top finishers was former Loyola Chicago soccer player and cross country/track athlete Pam Staton (Ingleside, Ill.). She finished with a time of 3:08:54, which was good for 182nd place among all women and 50th in the 30-34 age group.
Staton has enjoyed some fantastic running success over the years. Her best time in the Chicago Marathon was in 2014, when she ran 2:48:02 - good for 39th place in the women’s field. During the 2016 Boston Marathon, Staton took 32nd overall in the women’s race and was the 11th American woman to cross the finish line at 2:52:59.
Also during Sunday’s race, DePaul standout Julianne Sitch (Oswego, Ill.), who competed in the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Tennessee just one month ago, ran a time of 3:36:39. She ranked 252nd in her age group (30-34) and 5,437th among all women.
